Race instructions for Croome Capability Canter 2023

Please find below everything you should need to know for the race. If you've got any questions, please let us know, although please read through these instructions carefully first. Race numbers are to be collected on the day, you won't receive anything through the post. See you all on the day and good luck!

Water

There is a water station along the route. Every participant will receive a sealed bottle of water at the finish along with a medal and goodies.

Unable to run?

If you are unable to attend, let us know at least 48 hours before the race by completing the race transfer/withdrawal form. We are unable to give refunds, but you can transfer your place to someone else by filling in the form.

Within 48 hours of the race, we can't swap anything over as all registration information and results system will have been prepared (and we'll be running round preparing everything for the race), so please let us know as soon as possible!

Anyone found running under another name without notifying us prior to race day will be disqualified and banned from future races. This is for health and safety reasons and to ensure the accuracy of results and prize giving. You can read more about the consequences of swapping numbers.

Getting there

The address for the start of the race is: Croome Park, nr High Green, WR8 9DW.

From M5 junction 7, follow the brown signs off B4084 from Pershore or off A38 from Worcester/Upton.

There is limited parking, please car share where possible and allow 10 minutes to walk from registration to the start of the race.

Timings

Car park gates open from 7:30am. Please park in the orchard area (it will be signed). Number pick up is from 8am to 8:40am. The race will start at 9am after a pre-race briefing. If any spectators are coming to watch you at the race, please advise them to get to Croome before 9:30am, when it is free. Anyone entering Croome entrance after this time will have to pay standard prices. The canteen will be open at 9:30am, possibly earlier. A time of 1 hour and 30 minutes will be allocated to run the race (around 14 minutes per mile pace), after which time some of the marshals may start to head back, particularly if the weather is cold.

  • 7:30am: Car park opens
  • 8am-8:40am: Number collection
  • 9am: Race starts
  • 10:30am: Prize giving

Changing facilities

Please be advised that there are no designated changing facilities so it may be worth coming in your running attire. However, if you would like to change after the race there are toilets that you can change in.

Course conditions

This is a multi-terrain course and as the weather has been bad then the course will be very muddy, wet and very slippy. Please take care. Trail shoes are recommended. Spikes are not suitable. The race is not chip-timed, so please make sure your race number is visible and on the front, otherwise this may delay the results.

If you are unfortunate enough to get injured or have to pull out, please go to the nearest marshal, so we can account for all runners at the end and not worry that you are lost out on the course!

Prizes and goodies

All finishers will receive a medal and goodies at the finish line.

Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female finishers as well as first in each of the veteran age groups for male (MV40, MV50, MV60, MV70) and female (FV35, FV45, FV55, FV65).

Prize giving presentations at 10:30am near the race finish area.
