Please read the important on the day race instructions below, so you can help ensure everything goes smoothly on the day.

This is especially important this year as we have to make some changes fit in with COVID secure guidelines.

The race is being held at:

  • 7:30am: Car park opens.
  • 8am: Race registration will be open to pick up your numbers and register for the Wild Mile race.
  • 8:45am: Registration closes. Ensure you arrive before this time as you may face delays while the Wild Mile takes place.
  • 9:00am: The children’s Wild Mile race starts (in multiple waves if numbers are larger than anticipated).
  • 9:20am: The race briefing will be as soon as the kids have finished their Wild Mile race.
  • 9:30am: Solo runners start.
  • 9:40am: Pairs start.
  • 9:50am: Teams start.
  • 4:30pm: Main race finishes.
  • 4:35pm: Prize giving.

COVID secure changes

On arrival, please wear a mask and keep to the 2-metre distance, while waiting for your race number, and if you are part of a team/pair please only one person collects your numbers.

Please find an area for your team at least 2 metres away from any other team. There will be tape available to mark out your areas.

The Wild Mile will be split into multiple start waves, if numbers are larger than anticipated.

Please make sure you wear a mask when going inside to the toilet or purchasing drinks/cakes. Please queue outside the building for the toilets and not inside to limit numbers (Please feel free to bring picnics but DO NOT bring your own alcohol, this will be on sale at the cricket club).

Please cheer from your group areas and not crowd around the start/finish line. When you are waiting to run, please wear a face covering until your lap starts.

After all of that please have fun!!!

Car parking

There is limited parking available, so please car share where possible.

Timing and changeover

Please wear your number on your front so we can see it. Your times/results may be affected if you don’t.

Teams and pairs your baton will be a pen which you will use to mark your laps on the board when you have completed a lap. There will be hand sanitizer here for you to use too.

Please make sure only the person running the lap is on the start line. There will be an area set up for you to wait to do your lap.

Fancy dress

It will be great to see you in ‘I’ or ‘L’ theme fancy dress on the day, but it’s not compulsory.


There are toilets available. There will be no changing rooms available.

Water/aid station

There will be a water station set up, this will be mainly for the Solo runners but if you need a drink, please use hand sanitizer and keep your distance from the solo runners. These will be provided in single bottles and there will be no sponges in water this year sorry.

Solo runners – if you want any specific drinks/food please bring them and leave them in a named bag so you can help yourself at the water stop.


We encourage you to enjoy the day and bring a picnic, but please do not bring your own alcohol as the cricket club provide the venue for free, so please make use of the club’s facilities.

Course and safety

It’s a 2.62 mile multi-terrain course (footpaths, grass and trail) around a golf course and public footpaths, with some small bends and a two-way part (so please be aware of others). The course has the potential to have low-hanging branches, tree roots, slippy mud and grass, so take care.

Road shoes will be suitable (but maybe not your best shiny ones!), but you may prefer trail shoes.

We advise that you don’t wear headphones, so you can hear the marshal instructions and enjoy the atmosphere. If you do wear them, please wear them in one ear only.

It’s due to be very warm, so please stay hydrated, take on sufficient sugars/electrolytes and don’t forget to wear suncream. There is not a prize for most-sunburnt runner.

The course includes public footpaths that are used by dog walkers and golfers who have as much right to use the paths as you do, so be courteous. You are representing the local running community. Report any issues to marshals.

There are marshals on the course to help direct you. If you are unlucky enough to pick up an injury or have to pull out please go to the nearest marshal and let them know you have pulled out so we know where you are. There is a first aid tent near to the start line, all marshals will have the phone number in case of an emergency. The course is only 2.62 miles so you’re never far away.

Prizes and goodies

The prize giving will be at 4:35pm.

  • First male solo
  • First female solo
  • First pair
  • First team
  • Best fancy dress
  • Most solo male laps
  • Most solo female laps
  • Most laps as a pair
  • Most laps as a team

After the race you will receive a bespoke medal and goodies.

On the day entries

There will be a limited amount of on the day entries (arrive early to avoid disappointment).

For the ‘Wild Mile’ Kids race you can enter from 8am onwards on the day.
