Cross Country Team captains

Thank you to the captains for volunteering and championing the cross country leagues that the club take part in.

Also a big thank you to Chris Bomber Harris who captained the men’s team through the club’s promotion to division two and grew the participation in the club. Due to other commitments he has passed the mantle over, but still helps out where possible.

LiRF Leaders

As part of the club’s move to Clubmark accreditation, we have been putting a lot of our regular group leaders through LiRF (Leadership in Running Fitness) training with England Athletics. The training qualifies and insures leaders to deliver safe and fun running sessions, suitable for Running Club Leaders and other Group Leaders.

To lead a normal club night group a LIRF qualification is not required – but we encourage regular leaders to do the course to further knowledge, understanding and confidence in what they are doing and also to give them the opportunity to lead coached sessions/programmes (e.g. intervals/efforts/C25K). If you would like to apply for LiRF training to take your leading skills further, then please fill in the LiRF Leader Application Form. If you haven’t led a group before and are interested, speak to an existing leader and check out our leading a group tips page.

We also have qualified guide runners for leading visually impaired runners and now qualified coaches in running fitness.

Club chairs, past and present

Peter Gilbert was the club’s inaugural chair back when the club was named ‘Worcester Joggers’. He was instrumental in the club’s affiliation with England Athletics. Richard Sowden was the first chair as ‘Black Pear Joggers’. All have helped grow and transform the club into what it is today.

The original Worcester Joggers

Peter, Stuart and Wilf started back when the club was called the Worcester Joggers. All of them have made outstanding contributions to the club over the years, which you can find out more using the links below. Peter and Stuart have sadly passed away. Wilf no longer runs with the club, but still comes along to support at some local events.
